Meet the Associate Director – Lucy A. LePeau, Ph.D.

Dr. LePeau is an Associate Professor of Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University Bloomington. She serves as the Associate Director for Organizational and Strategic Initiatives for NITE. Prior to joining Indiana University, LePeau worked in roles such as the Assistant Dean of Students for New Student Programs at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Project Consultant for the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), Campus Advocate in the Office of Student Conduct at the University of Maryland College Park, and Coordinator for Orientation and New Student Programs at Marquette University.

LePeau has produced over 50 publications and conference presentations focused on academic affairs and student affairs partnerships promoting diversity and equity initiatives, college student development, and improved student affairs teaching and practice. She has published in journals such as The Review of Higher Education, The Journal of Higher Education, The Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Innovative Higher Education, and The Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. She was a recipient of the Emerging Scholar and Annuit Coeptis awards from ACPA College Student Educators International in 2015 and the Melvene D. Hardee Dissertation of the Year from NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education in 2013.

LePeau is actively involved in national associations such as the Association for the Study of Higher Education, American Education Research Association, NASPA Student Affairs Professionals, and ACPA College Student Educators International. She serves on the editorial board for the Review of Higher Education. She earned her Ph.D. from the Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education (HESI) program at the University of Maryland College Park (UMCP), M.S. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Indiana University, and B.A. in Psychology from Marquette University. She works with the NITE team to consult with institutions of higher education to transform educational policies and practices to cultivate more inclusive campus environments.
